Thank you very much for the photos! I totally enjoyed looking at them. It really is funny looking at the carpets at Fitprime. Who knew. I also enjoyed seeing the Firm instructors and all those Transfirmers! Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to make these available.

Hi Michele, thanks for the photos. I live in Irmo, about 10 miles, from Columbia, 30-45 minute commute. I wish they would either have a Fitprime and/or The Firm in my area. I hope you worked out for the rest of us :D. And glad you enjoyed your trip to Colatown! Did you get a chance to eat at Drake's Drive In across from the museum or go to Five Points to eat? Thanks again, Annette

No, Annette, we did not eat there, but I wish I would have known ahead of time some good places to go. One day we had a picnic lunch at the lake on the base and that night we had dinner at the NCO club. The next day we lunched at Willy's Oyster Bar & Grill and had chinese buffet at some place very close to my hotel. It was actually pretty good, though, and we were in a hurry to get him back on base for formation.

If you Cola folks could recommend some restaurants, that would great! Nothing fancy, just good food. My husband will be at Fort Jackson for his advanced training until June and will get weekend passes from time to time. I would love to send him places to get a great burger, pizza, etc. --- stuff the army is probably not feeding him!

Thanks in advance,
Michele

Ditto those 2 places. Also Yo Burrito and Birds on a Wire are supposed to be great places to go. Althought for #4 I have to recommend the Russian tea- if you like hot tea it is wonderful!

I thought about Birds on a Wire this a.m. And for pizza, Zorba's even though Parthenon's would have been good as well. Parthenon's is now closed :( but LaBrascia's is good. And we can't forget about Lizard's Thicket! Annette

Thanks for the restaurant recommendations! They sound great. I will send them off to my husband for when he gets leaves.

I wondered about that Lizzards Thicket place. There was one right across from my hotel and one right by Enterprise, where I got my rental car. Now I'm hungry!

Thicket has always been too greay southern food for my taste, but I love Cracker Barrel. If you/he like(s) seafood, Captain Toms or Captain Georges are local family owned (different names due to different locations) and have very generous portions for low prices.
New Orleans is also supposed to be great and has famous watermelon daqueri's (sp?) I have not been there just yet, but it has become very popular over here. Frans is a other small place family owned and perated that serves southern foods that are not overly greasy either. When I used to go there they had the best bran muffins I had ever eaten.
If you get to come back, I recommend visiting our zoo. it has some walking trails and the gorilla exibit is beautiful. I just came back from going there and a silver back was just feet away from us (sepaerated by glass of course. He was outside eating veggies and then hid in some tall grasses (he was outdoors, people were indoors.) I will post the website where dh is storing the pics since we took over 170 of them once he gets them loaded.

I very much wanted to visit the zoo while I was there because I had read about it, and I am a zoo fanatic. St. Louis has a wonderful zoo that I visit several times a year. I would be very interested in seeing your zoo pictures when you post them. I'm sure that silver back was impressive!

Thanks for the restaurant ideas too. You guys are great!

Wow--great photos. Loved the pics of both FP and the Firm.

So who teaches at FP--Ginger and Anna and anyone else? Cool to see the carpets and all the fitness toys!! Is there a slanted rebounder in the background?

What was the format of the rebounder class? Pure rebounding, rebounding mixed with weights?

RuthNYCHi Ruth,

The entire class was not a rebounder class, just the warmup which lasted about 10 minutes I think. I have never done any rebounding, and I thought it was fun and definitely got my heart rate up. We did not use weights for the rebounding section of the workout, but that's not to say that they don't ever use weights when they rebound. I'm sure there is a lot of variety in the classes, given all the toys there are to play with!

I did not see any slanted rebounders. You might be seeing the black triangle shaped things, which are call "The Wedge." This was used for support during side planks, but it can be used for all sorts of training. It was certainly softer than the new Firm box on an incline. I would love to have one. You might be able to google on "The Wedge" for more information or simply email Anna.
