...but you can only have six workouts to do it with! What do you choose, in order of most important first. (((((HUGS))))) sandi

Hi Sandi! This is a toughie!
1. Strong Bear because nothing works my legs out and shapes them better than this one.
2. Christi's Still Jumpin because it's an excellent steady state cardio where I burn tons of calories, plus I LOVE it, so I'll actually do it!
3. Margaret Richard Getting Better because her light weights/high reps really works for me, and I get great results with added floorwork in my rotations. Her stuff is tough without any dread factor. This will be good to crosstrain with the others I choose. It's more endurance type work with tons of reps.
4. Well, yoga has to rank up here, so I'll pick Yoga Mind and Body. I have to be flexible in order to be in the best shape of my life! :)
5. Kickboxing because it works both legs and upper body, and it's cardio...so I'll pick Cathe's Kick Punch and Crunch, which may soon be replaced by Kick Max! :D
6. Cathe's Muscle Max
This might change tomorrow. ;) I look forward to hearing others choices.

Volume 1!!! It's still the best for kicking your butt, and getting the job done. Whatever selection of tapes I chose, I would most certainly include Volume 1 in the mix. Yes, it's dated, and the aerobics sequence is a bit...well....dorky, but man does that workout do what it promises!

Does it have to be a video or DVD? Can we pick another type of workout?

It can be ANYTHING! I just want your opinions and to poll everybody together to see what's really working for y'all. (((((HUGS))))) sandi

I would choose Volume 1 with Susan Harris, Volume 3 with Sandhal Bergman, and All Weights/MBS with Tracie Long. If those were the only three videos I had, I'd be in good shape (no pun intended). Great thread, sandi! :)
Edited to say, I'd have to choose a couple of Cathe's step tapes for the fun/cardio/difficulty factor. :)
Can I choose ALL of my vids? Please? I've got some yoga, some Lotte Berks, some cool cardio vids, and I like them, i just don't use them as often as I do V1, 3, and MBS.

If I had only 6....and knew I would never get anymore, I would go with:
Weights First
Core First
Up and Down
Strong Bear
From the Ground Up
Urban Rebounding Challenge
I chose the 1st 4 because they are very challenging and have many fitness elements in them. FTGU, for those reasons also; and because it is fun and challenging....I would have to have a fun element to keep going. I would have to just rotate my rebounding workout for my cardio.
There are tougher videos out there, but I feel you will stick with the ones that are doable and effective. I can do the FP's injury free, go as intense as I want and have fun doing them! Rebounding is the best cardio for my knee that I have found!

Only 6? Man, that's tough. My answer changes from week to week.
Here's my answer for this week:
1. Vol 1 (total body)
2. Weights First (total body, but ouchie-wowchie, my legs and glutes!)
3. Crunch Time (total body)
4. Tough Tape (weights)
5. PM Callanetics (flexibility)
6. IMAX2 (cardio)
Well, lookie there. I think I have me a new rotation. :)

I actually have put a lot of thought to this:
1. swimming laps
2. power walking
OK. that takes care of cardio
3. FTGU
4. Classic Vol.3
5. Tough Tape 2
6. Steaming Cardio (yes, in case it rains I need indoor cardio)
Duh! get rid of one of those six and put in a live yoga class. I guess Steamin Cardio, but I LOVE that tape!

I really don't know how to answer my own Q! LOL! I am finding I feel such an amazing difference in my body by incorporating yoga (and I like KV's the BEST!), so that would have to be two of them~one sculpting, one just stretching. Soo, that leaves four....
Right now I'm REALLY enjoying KV's Streamlined Fitness (is that even the right title?)
I love FIRM Classic Vol.'s 3 and 4
I really like Core First...and Cathe's Power Hour...or Still Jumpin' for cardio....
I can't answer my own question! LOL! (((((HUGS))))) sandi

If I only had six vids to choose from. I would go with these.
1. Firm- Volume 3 - That tape seems to work every muscle.
2. Firm- Volume 4- It works everything in 42 minutes.
3. Firm - Variety or Strong Body- or Crosstrainer
4. Firm - Variety or Strong Heart- or Crosstrainer
5. Fitprime- Fast Cheetah- This one kills me but the cardio is awesome and programmable. You can make the dvd version short or long.
6. Fitprime- Strong Bear- Great for lower body and I love the music.
:p
Since I have all of the original firms and parts vids with the exception of some of the compilations and many of the fitprimes, it would be difficult to not touch them all. I really love them all. I try to go to the gym at least two days of my week and use only the firms and fitprimes on the other days. I swear the videos are harder than the gym workouts. I even liked the prime power workouts and the tortoise and hare ballroom videos. All of them come in handy. Sometimes you fall off of the exercise wagon and need the easier ones to help you get back on.

WOW this is a tough question, but probably:
1. The Firm Upper Body Split
2. The Firm Lower Body Split
3. FitPrime Steamin Cardio
4. The Firm Super Cardio
5. TLP Core Foundations
6. TLP Core Strength

I've been thinking a lot about this (and I don't like to think -- hurts my brain:cool: ). Here's my list:
1. Firm Volume 2 (love the upper body work)
2. FP Weights First (love the lower body work)
3. Cathe Step Blast (fun!)
4. Cathe Low Max (fun, a great fat burner)
5. Windsor Accelerated Pilates (love what this did for my mid-section)
6. Cathe IMAX 2 (fun, great interval workout)

Well, I'm not IN the best shape of my life...yet... but here's my list of what I'd absolutely hold on to (and like all of you, I'd actually hold on to wayyy more than 6):
1. Firm Volume 1
2. Firm Volume 3
3. Firm Upper Body / Standing Legs (ha! 2 workouts on 1 dvd!)
4. Firm Tough Tape 2 / 5-Day Abs (another 2-fer)
5. Firm Total Body Shaping Mix (has a bit of everything on it)
6. Tae Bo Get Ripped Advanced (great fun cardio)
Runner-Up - FitPrime: From the Ground Up / Crunch Time (bought as a 2-fer mix also). Really, it's sooo hard to choose because there are so many good workouts - not all Firms of course, it's just that they work my body the best.

This is a great thread because it has given me some ideas about more videos I need to acquire.
My six with the small collection of videos that I have:
1) FP: Standing Legs ( I can barely make it to the end)
2) Firm: Vol.1
3) Firm: Vol.2
4) Firm: Vol.3-my favourite video
5) Kathy Smith: Fat Burning Breakthrough-it is just fun
6) Steamin' Cardio-the new one with Heidi-it worked up more of a sweat than I thought it would.

Well...hmmm... I have yet to get my KickButts so I will only put a
couple and wait until I check them out. I have yoga and stuff but need to see these workouts.
Frim Vol. 1
Tae Bo
Krav Maga Self Defense
Reserve the rest until I get KickButts

This is really tough! But for this moment in time:
1. Firm Volume 1 (great lower body work plus Susan Harris)
2. Firm Volume 6 (that gorgeous Jayne Poteet works my whole body)
3. Firm Super Sculpt (a variety of instructors and exercises)
4. WHFN Stong Bear (a great workout)
5. WHFN Pump (nice and slow)
6. Joyce Vedral Definition Upper Body (burns the heck outta my arms and chest)
I can always walk for extra cardio. I mainly like muscle work for videos/dvd's.

This is a tough one to choose.
Let's see, these are in no particular order, because some of the tapes just work me in different ways, I couldn't put one over the other.
1. Firm Cardio
2. FTGU
3. Kathy Smith kickboxing workout
4. MCB+Abs
5. Stott Pilate's Intermediate Matwork
6. Ali McGraw's yoga mind and body

Let's see, when I was in the best shape of my life, I only had a few vids to choose from. I had
FIRM
Volume 1
Volume 2
Fat Blaster
FIRM Strength
FIRM Cardio
Tough Tape
MBS (Maximum Body Sculpting - the one with Tracie Long - when I had it it was called All Weights)
I must have had another cardio only vid but I can't remember what one (Maybe one of the Core Cardios?). I would do one of the total body workouts 3 times per week and 2 cardio only workouts per week. The combination of AWT and cardio 5 days per week slimmed me down like you wouldn't believe.
Now that I have a bigger collection, I would have a tougher time picking just 6 workouts to do over and over again.

What is FTGU?
snora
June 26th, 2005, 06:31 AM
From the Ground Up is FTGU. It is from the original FitPrime and led by Heidi. Push Pull is essentially the same workout.
