Currently I have the message board set to Deny any members that are under 13 years of age. Does anyone have any objections?

We have to comply with the US COPPA laws that requires children under the age of 13 to get parental consent before they can post. If we just deny them then we don't have to worry about it. For more information about this law, visit:

I think this is fine. The youngest posting member we've had was 18, and she's now in her 20s. :)

I have no problem with that, either.

Question -- if a person IS under 13, say one of our forum members' daughters, how would getting the parental permission work? It might be in the link above, I haven't clicked on it, so if it is, let me know and I'll read the COPPA link. Thanks! :)

That's the whole idea with using COPPA - that you have to have the parent's permission and everything. Then you have to give the legal business address and set up a fax number. For right now I say we just don't allow under-13 members.

I agree with you, Michael! That's easier and more manageable. :)
