Hi,

I am very excited to try these workouts! But my husband and I are thinking about having another child:) Thanks

Hi, beckdawn, I would think some of them would be, but that's a question we can ask WHFN. I'll do some checking and see what can be found out about it!

Here is my opinion - for what it is worth:

Check with your doctor - PLEASE! If you get the green light, you may still need to modify by using lighter weights or adding some marching in place and even rest here and there. Listen to your body and your doctor. Each pregnancy is different with different limitations placed on the mom to be for each one.

...I've had different activity levels and activities with each pregnancy. While I've never had to be on bed rest, lifting during one of my pregnancies was a big NO-NO! ...not the others though. Be safe and cautious.

Best wishes!

I agree with Ginger about checking with your doctor first. That's always the best advice. :) I heard back quickly from WHFN, and their first comment was "check with your doctor," first. They said they'd write back later when they had the time to draft a response (and it being Sunday night, I understand), yet they wrote back quickly to say what Ginger said. :)

I hope Heidi or Tamela will see this and chime in, since both of them teach classes, are leads in the workouts, and have bambinos. They'd probably have some good advice!

My doctor was a traditionalist. She wouldn't let me do anything but walk briskly. Others will give you the green light for vigorous activity all the way up to the 3rd trimester. It's about finding a doctor you're really comfortable with and then following their advice.

If you're in good shape and feel good ... and if there are no complications...I'd bet your doctor will say you can do workouts like these.

My midwife always says you can continue what you did pre-pregnancy and then listen to your body as it changes. The only thing I'm aware of concerning these would be lying on your back for abdominals after five months.

I echo the advice so far...listen to your doctor. It would be great if your doctor had the time to see the tapes, but he would still need to know your condition and the form with which you work to make an educated guess.

My doctor always told me that whatever level of activity I was doing JUST BEFORE the conception was okay the first 3 months; and after that, I should gradually let my body tell me where to ease up. The only exceptions were the obvious ones: No horseback riding, no jumping or anything to stretch or snap the ligaments holding the pregnant belly in place. Besides the possibility of injury it could start premature labor!

Each of my 3 pregnancies was different. I ate differently during each, I exercised differently during each, and each time I gained 60 lbs!

By the 3rd time my doctor said some of his fittest patients just seem to have a 'number' they arrive at with each pregnancy and not to worry about it. The health of the baby was paramount and as long as I was not rendered inactive by the weight gain, to wait and worry about getting the weight off after baby came.

The first 2 I had to have a sugar screen because of what they found from urine samples at each visit; my 3rd and last pregnancy I ate almost NO sugar at all and never had to have a sugar screen! (But I still gained 60 lbs...go figure!) Also, I was sick the entire 9 mos and my workouts suffered greatly. I was almost a blob of jelly by the time baby got here and he was a bit on the skinny side from my blood pressure problems. I had trouble eating, threw up every time I moved a finger (usually in the neighbors gutter down the hill as I walked or tried to jog early in the pregnancy), and finally gave up. At one point they thought I may have pre-eclampsia and I had to spend a whole weekend in bed and be re-tested the following Monday. I was working and they took me out of work.

I also echo laying on the back later in pregnancy is out. The weight of the uterus and baby can be too much on the posterior vena cava, or huge vein behind it. It could cause oxygen depletion to the area supplying baby and other organs of support. I was advised also to sleep on my left side and AVOID sleeping on my back at all during that time. My back ached and it was actually good to sleep on my side so I could curl my back a bit and put a pillow between my knees and one behind my back for support. I could tilt a bit toward the back and not bring weight to bear on it.

I have 2 healthy boys, 14 and 8 and I'm still working out, mostly intermittently. I don't have the figure I once had, but I've always battled weight problems and I have a lot of muscle that makes me look smaller than what I actually weigh. I have ongoing bp problems (familial from both parents) and now hypothyroid and take tests and meds for it. I no longer have an 'ideal' I strive for. I just want to feel good in my clothes, breathe and move well and gracefully, and without pain in my back as much as I can. If I have that, then (DH and my family say that) I glow on the outside, and life is good!

Hi!
Thanks to everyone for all your advice:)
When I do get pregnant I will be sure to ask my doctor, and take it one day at a time.

Whystlestop... Oh My Goodness!!! Sounds like you had a hard time during pregnancies...The only time I got sick was either when I was brushing my teeth or trying to "lick a stamp" at work:D They had to get me one of those wet sponge things.
I also gagged in a man's face one time:eek: I was at work and I guess he had a cold or something cause he kept snorting snot."YUCK" I just about lost my breakfast on the fellow.

Big Hugs!!!
